The New York Liberty advanced to the 2024 WNBA Finals after beating A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces 76-62 in Game 4 on Sunday to close out their second-round series. The rematch of last year's finals was lopsided outside of Game 3, with the New Yorkers dominating their opponents for most of the series.

Sabrina Ionescu's 22 points and Breanna Stewart's 19 led the way for the Liberty, who ruined the Aces' chances to three-peat. MVP A'ja Wilson had 19 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

WNBA fans took to social media to react to this result, with some celebrating the Liberty getting revenge on A'ja Wilson and the Aces.

"The Aces fans bullied Sabrina nonstop & told her she was undeserving of everything she got. This is how you get revenge," one fan said.

Others praised Sabrina Ionescu's performance, even recalling that she first suffered what Caitlin Clark suffered this season.

"Sabrina is the GOAT 🐐," one fan proclaimed.
"I don’t know Sabrina but I think she took this series really personal. She dealt with what CC deals with first. They were so mean and bitter towards her," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, some questioned MVP A'ja Wilson's failure to lead her team to the finals again, even comparing her to James Harden.

"A'Ja turned into James Harden: failed in the playoffs after a phenomenal regular season," one fan wrote.
"Best player in the WNBA can’t carry her squad?" another fan questioned.
"Getting elimated with 62 points with the MVP you know😭," another fan said.

The New York Liberty are three wins away from the WNBA championship after eliminating A'ja Wilson, Aces

The New York Liberty played the best basketball in the entire WNBA from the very beginning. Despite an early upset against the Chicago Sky, they got things back on track and started winning. They finished the regular season with a 32-8 overall record, winning 16 games at home and away while losing four at Barclays Center and other arenas.

The start of the 2024 postseason was more of the same for the Liberty, as they swept the Atlanta Dream in the first round. A'ja Wilson and the Aces waited for them in the second round, but not even the reigning MVP could stop them. They won the series 2-1 and now are waiting to see who will challenge them for the championship.

When asked what returning to the finals meant while walking off the floor, Sabrina Ionescu had this response:

"It means everything. Obviously we still gotta continue to grind away and get some wins but gonna enjoy the moment and obviously just be very thankful for the way we grinded out this win."

The Liberty have played in the WNBA Finals five times before this year and have zero titles to show for it. But with their star duo of Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, they were the most consistent team throughout the season and should be considered the favorites heading into the big series.
