Caitlin Clark remains a recurrent topic in the WNBA even after her rookie season came to an end against the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the 2024 playoffs. This time, former WNBA player and current broadcaster Ros Gold-Onwude discussed the Indiana Fever star's approach against racist comments thrown at her colleagues.

During a Thursday appearance on the Good Follow Show, Gold-Onwude said Clark wasn't taking action against those comments voluntarily but strongly rejected those comments whenever she was asked about them.

"Caitlin has not had a proactive approach around toxic fandom and what's appropriate for, or something that she celebrates or likes to see in her fanbase. Or being proactive against any type of hateful discourse around WNBA and its players.

"However, when she's been prompted, she has spoken very clearly on those matters and has taken a strong stance that none of that is acceptable."

These words didn't sit well with plenty of fans. One of them even wrote a lengthy response about Caitlin Clark not meeting the standards that people often set and change for her.

"It’s not enough to recognize all the great players who came before you, even ones who have lied about you on social media, on SNL, one of the largest entertainment platforms, as well as every chance you get.

"It’s not enough to pass up 5 Million Dollars offered by Ice Cube to play 10 games, and instead take 70k to play in, and support the league you have always wanted to play in.
"It’s not enough that you denounce racism every time you’re are asked," one fan said.

Others joined in and criticized the narrative that some people try to push about Caitlin Clark.

"This is getting so nauseating," one seemingly fed-up fan said.
"CC is way too mature and emotionally healthy to join in this chaos," another fan said.
I'm legitimately curious as to why people feel she needs to have a voice over any of these issues, almost trying to make her voice their thoughts. She's a hooper, not an activist. It's what she has prepared herself for in her short life," another fan pointed out.

Others defended the newly crowned Rookie of the Year and noted how positive she's been for the league.

"She owes them nothing," one fan said.
"Interesting that none of these media pundits are speaking up about her attempting to get other teams paid with spot bonuses," another fan said.

Caitlin Clark blasted racist attacks against her colleagues

Caitlin Clark was very vocal whenever she was inquired about this issue, especially during her exit interview. The No. 1 overall pick called the attacks against her colleagues 'upsetting' and said that those people weren't fans of the game.

"It's definitely upsetting. … Nobody really should be facing any sort of racism, hurtful, disrespectful, hateful comments and threats," Clark said.

"Those aren't fans, those are trolls. It's a real disservice to the people in our league, the organization, the players in the WNBA, but there are a lot of really good fans, whether they've been fans for 20-plus years or whether they are new fans in our league."

While Caitlin Clark continues to face some criticism about her handling of the "toxic fandom" surrounding her, she has made her feelings on the issue quite clear.
