Fans bashed Connecticut Sun player DeWanna Bonner after she got into a heated exchange with Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. On Wednesday, Game 2 of the first-round series between the Sun and Fever started hot. The two players almost got into a fight in the first quarter.

Clark was assertive to start the game to keep the Fever's season alive. The 2024 Rookie of the Year knocked down a long-range 3-pointer. She kept being aggressive as she attempted more shots from beyond the arc.

In one of her attempts, Bonner was switched onto Clark. Seeing the size advantage, the Fever rookie attempted to shoot a shot from beyond the arc but was heavily contested by the Connecticut player. There was contact after the shot and the Indiana star fell to the ground.

But the officials didn't blow their whistle, allowing the game to progress. The no-call annoyed Clark, leading to a heated altercation with Bonner.

Fans rallied behind Clark and bashed DeWanna Bonner on X (formerly Twitter). Here are some of what the fans had to say.

"Thug in her national habitat," one fan said.
"Bonner doesn’t want that smoke," another fan said.
"Bonner fouled her and started barking for what? Clown behavior from her," a fan said.

Other fans called out the officials on social media.

"Refs are somehow getting worse," a fan said.
"She never gets the landing space foul 💀, " another fan said.
"Does landing space foul not exist in the WNBA?" a fan said.

Clark finished the first period with six points, four rebounds and three assists. The Fever star knocked down 50% of her shots from the 3-pointer.

DeWanna Bonner was ready for Clark before Game 2

The Sun has the upper hand against the Fever in Game 2. A lot of it had to do with how DeWanna Bonner defended Clark in Game 1, where she only made four shots out of her 17 attempts. She finished with 11 points, four rebounds and eight assists in her playoff debut.

Before the start of Game 2, Bonner credited Clark for being a great offensive player. The six-time All-Star shared that she expects the former Iowa Hawkeyes star to come back stronger for their next bout.

"She’s a great player. I know next game she’s going to come out firing," Bonner talked about Clark. "So, gotta go back, watch some videos and see what we can do. But, yeah, there was nothing behind it. That’s the only way we can win."

DeWanna Bonner and her team look forward to eliminating the Fever, while Clark attempts to do her best to keep their season alive.
