When it rains, it pours for Joy Taylor as WNBA fans brought up an old video of her giving Angel Reese credit for Caitlin Clark's popularity. Taylor has been in the headlines over the past 24 hours after being named as a defendant in a lawsuit against Fox Sports.
Some fans have said nasty things about Taylor online, while others have begun uncovering controversial takes. One fan dug up her comments back in June about Clark being popular because of Reese mocking her during the 2023 NCAA championship game.
"Everyone was talking about Caitlin Clark before then. Joy must have been busy to not see that," the fan tweeted.
Other WNBA fans piled on, criticizing Joy Taylor for saying her opinion is a fact. Some called her a "hater" while others brought evidence of people talking about Caitlin Clark way before her rivalry with Angel Reese blossomed.
"She's always been a top of the line Caitlin Clark hater," a fan wrote.
"This was crazy. Only a few days before, Jason Williams said on ESPN she was the biggest brand in college basketball," one fan claimed.
"She's a total idiot. I don't know why people are expecting these clips to make sense that they're posting all over today," another fan commented.
Clark and Reese have redefined the popularity of women's basketball over the past couple of years. Regardless of what's being discussed online, fans look forward to the next WNBA season.
"She might have seen more footage if she put the TV on her ceiling," a fan tweeted.
"She must have been the only one who wasn’t talking about CC before then," one fan opined.
"Joy had other stuff going on lol," another fan remarked.
Joy Taylor was on Monday's episode of Speak despite the lawsuit, not making any comments about it.
Caitlin Clark open to the idea of a 4-point shot in basketball
One of the biggest attributes of Caitlin Clark's game is her long-range shooting. Clark is often compared to Steph Curry for seemingly having unlimited range on the basketball court.
Speaking on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Clark liked the idea suggested by the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. Travis suggested having a 4-point shot in basketball to possibly increase viewership.
"I love 3-point shooting," Clark said, according to SPIN.ph. "I love seeing guys just like launch threes, but not everybody loves that. I'd love that (4-point-line). Let's do it. That's a great idea, Adam Silver, 4-point line."
While it's a wild suggestion, the Philippine Basketball Association already introduced the idea last year, which received mixed reactions from fans.
