WNBA stars Satou Sabally and her younger sister Nyara Sabally are ready to represent Germany in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Elder Sabally has always been a proud sister to Nyara and she found one more moment to flaunt her sibling on her social media.
Germany has qualified for the Olympics for the first time in history. Nyara made sure that she was prepared for the historic moment. The German player got herself a 14k gold Olympic-themed grill and she flaunted it on live TV.
Before one of the Olympic games, Sabally joined German TV presenters to talk about representing her country in the big event. In the midst of the conversation, when one of the presenters asked her to show her gold grill, she took it out of her pocket and put it on.
Posting the video of her sister showing off her grill, Satou Sabally hyped up Nyara on her Instagram story.
“Nyara Sabally grill on German TV is top tier,” Satou Sabally wrote.
Later, Nyara also took to her Instagram to clarify the story of the video. Posting the video, she said that she was caught off guard by the TV presenters. Replying to her sister's story, Nyara wrote,
“No bc they caught me off guard asking me to out them in.”
Satou Sabally talks representing her country at Paris Olympics
Satou Sabally and her sister Nyara Sabally are representing their country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite their WNBA stardom, it was hard for Satou Sabally to imagine she could ever represent her country in the Olympics.
In a conversation with Paul George on “Podcast P With Paul George”, she said that she never imagined that her country could qualify for the Olympics.
“I still can’t really believe that I’m going to be at the Olympics because I never really thought that Germany could go that far,” she said. (Timestamp [1:04:54])
Interestingly, this is the first time that the German Women's Basketball Team has qualified for the Olympics.
Sabally also said that the German team qualifying for the Olympics is different than other teams because the team has fought really hard to gain the spot.
“It’s not like in America where you have 12 All-Stars on a team. No. We really fought for this so hard. Not to take anything away from other countries but I think we’re really just at such a special time in German history with sports and women’s sports that this means so much more to me than you can imagine,” she added.
Sabally hasn't played a single game for her team, the Dallas Wings, this WNBA season. However, she will play for her national team in the Olympics. The German team will also feature Leonie Fiebich, Marie Gülich and Nyara Sabally, who plays for the New York Liberty.
