During Indiana Fever games this summer, Tyrese Haliburton frequently sat courtside at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. While catching WNBA action, the Pacers All-Star and his girlfriend, Jade Jones, developed a close relationship with Caitlin Clark and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery.
Haliburton spoke to the media about his friendship with Clark. The Olympic gold medalist revealed that he and Jones recently began group chatting with the Fever guard and her boyfriend.
McCaffery also worked as the Indiana Pacers' team assistant before accepting an assistant coaching job at Bulter this month. Haliburton said that he and McCaffery grew closer while he worked with the team.
"I have grown to be pretty close to Caitlin and him [McCaffery]. Me, her [Clark], him, and my girlfriend have a group chat that we talk pretty often. (38-48 seconds)."
The Fever were recently swept 2-0 in the first round of the WNBA playoffs by the Connecticut Sun. Clark struggled from the floor during the series, averaging 18.0 points and 8.5 assists per game. She shot 35.0% from the field and 20.0% from deep.
Meanwhile, Haliburton and the Pacers are getting set for the preseason. They expect to improve on last year's results when they made a surprise ECF run.
Tyrese Haliburton became a Caitlin Clark fan during the latest WNBA season
Tyrese Haliburton is a major Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark supporter. He seems inspired by the Fever star's masterful performances.
In August, Haliburton attended a contest pitting Indiana against Seattle. Clark scored 23 points and dished nine assists during her team's 92-75 win that day. Afterward, Halliburton posted a shoutout to the Fever star on his social media.
"Hope y’all seeing what 22 doin' at Gainbridge," he wrote on X.
He also attended the game between the Fever and the Atlanta Dream. Clark dropped 26 points and 12 assists in the game. During one play, the rookie standout fought through a screen and nailed a three-pointer over her defender.
Tyrese Haliburton's reaction was priceless. He stood from his seat in admiration of Clark's offensive display. Given how Indiana's WNBA and NBA franchises have connected lately, don't be surprised if Clark attends her share of Pacers games this fall.
