The Seattle Storm caused a frenzy on social media when they made use of Caitlin Clark for a promotion on their X (formerly Twitter) account. The image of Clark was used to advertise the dates they play the Indiana Fever in the upcoming WNBA season.

"Caitlin Clark Saturday Night Fever. You should be dancing."

Fans on X called out the Storm. One user on X pointed out that they were capitalizing on Caitlin Clark's popularity for "views."

Other fans joined in 'dragging' the Storm for the move. While others saw the marketing brains behind the stunt.

"blatantly. and then complaining about it later," a user wrote.
"Damn even other teams are using CC for clicks... someone send @WNBA a memo, let them know it's ok to talk about their golden goose," another user on X added.
"Nothing wrong with that. Marketing 101," another fan wrote.

The WNBA released its fixture list for the 2025 season slated to begin on 17 May 2025. Clark and the Indiana Fever begin their season against Angel Reese's Chicago Sky while the Storm take on the Phoenix Mercury the next day 18 May 2025.

The report quotes Dr. Ryan Brewer of Indiana University who noted that Clark was responsible for 26.5% of the league's financial revenue. This includes gate attendance, television views and merch. sales.

Furthermore, it should be worth mentioning that her biggest influence was felt in the city of Indianapolis where she was directly responsible for $36 million in revenue. With this in mind, the Indiana Fever and the WNBA will be starting the new season with the Clark effect to bank on.
