WNBA player Kate Martin provided fans a sneak peek into the new Unrivaled league’s practice facility. Martin, who was picked by the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA expansion draft this offseason, was the 27th player signed by the 3-on-3 league and will play for the Laces Basketball Club.

On Thursday, Martin posted a photo of their Unrivaled practice on her Instagram story, showing off a well-lit basketball court, complete with LED screens that read the league’s name and logo.

The new league, co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, has provided housing and premium practice facilities for its players in the upcoming 2025 season. Unrivaled has also made sure that all players and teams are accommodated well throughout the nine-week tournament.

Aside from cutting-edge facilities, the league has allotted a salary pool of $8 million for all the 36 players competing in their games. The pool allows them to earn at least $200,000 during the WNBA offseason.

It is set to give players an option to stay in the country and earn money instead of playing overseas, which has been the norm for women’s basketball players throughout the years.

Kate Martin banners the Laces’ six-woman roster for the Unrivaled league. She joins Washington Mystics’ Stefanie Dolson, Las Vegas Aces’ Tiffany Hayes and Jackie Young, Minnesota Lynx’s Kayla McBride and Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas. They are coached by Andrew Wade.

Martin played for the Las Vegas Aces in her rookie season and averaged 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in 34 games.

The league will start on Jan. 17 in Miami, Florida. It will be broadcast on TNT, TruTV and Max via online stream.

Unrivaled aims to give ‘generational wealth’ to players

The Unrivaled league was founded on the mission of giving women basketball players the ability to achieve wealth in their lives.

According to co-founder Napheesa Collier, the league looks to capitalize on women’s basketball's rise and help the players earn “generational wealth” from it.

"Women's sports is on such a rise, and it feels like everyone is benefiting from that except the women in the sport, and obviously that's something we're trying to change and then also create generational wealth for these women," Collier said in an interview with 'We Need To Talk' in 2023.
"From the beginning, [Stewart] and I really set out to create a league that was founded on that principle that players deserve compensation and ownership that reflect their value."

While the contracts are not disclosed, the league is expected to pay players an average of $222,222 for their participation, which is a bit higher than the WNBA’s max contract of about $214,000.
