Throughout her NCAA and WNBA career, Caitlin Clark has consistently worn Kobe Bryant's signature Nike shoes. Whether she's sporting the Kobe 5s or the Kobe 6s, Clark can often be seen firing away from downtown against opposing teams while donning Bryant's iconic sneakers.
During an appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, the Indiana Fever star dubbed the Kobe 5s and the Kobe 6s as her favorites.
In addition, she also told the two NFL brothers that she had already received a package of the iconic hi-top design of Kobe's signature shoe, which Nike is now making again.
"I play in only Kobes," Clark said. "I'm a big Kobe fan. ... The five and the six. I like the six, probably better. But five and six, they're low-tops."
The comments caught the attention of a number of figures in the basketball community once the clip of Clark talking with the Kelce brothers began to circulate on Instagram.
When ESPN's WNBA page posted the clip, Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, saw it and liked the post, as seen below.
The post also caught the attention of University of Iowa assistant coach Raina Harmon, who coached Clark during her time with the Hawkeyes. In addition to Vanessa Bryant, Harmon also liked the post from the @ESPNW page.
Additionally, a number of fans showed their approval in the comments section, as seen below.
Looking at Caitlin Clark's love for Kobe signature shoes, as well as how one coach compared her to Kobe Bryant
After Caitlin Clark made the transition from an NCAA phenom to a WNBA star, the young guard continued to exclusively wear Kobe Bryant's signature sneakers. While Clark is often seen sporting Kobe colorways available to fans, earlier this season she debuted some exclusive kicks.
During the WNBA's All-Star weekend in Indiana, Clark wore a player-edition colorway that left fans in awe. Additionally, in July, as she and the Fever prepared for the WNBA playoffs, Clark debuted her first Kobe 5 player edition.
The moment was captured on video and shared via the Fever's social media channels, as seen below:
From the sounds of things, it isn't just that Caitlin Clark is a fan of Kobe's shoes; she also embodies Kobe's "Mamba Mentality." During an interview with NBA vet Brian Scalabrine and Frank Isola on Sirius XM this summer, one of Clark's college coaches, Jan Jensen, compared her mentality to Bryant's as well.
While she's expected to get her own signature shoe, in the meantime, expect Caitlin Clark to keep rocking Kobe's signature sneakers.
