Angel Reese's Chicago Sky are in a tight spot to remain in the WNBA playoff race amid a seven-game skid. Despite that, the young star doesn't seem to be worried. While the team is still in contention for a playoff berth, they have struggled in the last few weeks, going just 2-8 in their last 10 games.
On the flip side, since returning from the WNBA's Olympic break, the Atlanta Dream have found their rhythm, winning four of their last 10. They sit tied with the Sky for the eighth-place spot in the WNBA Playoffs.
In a post on Instagram made on Wednesday morning, Angel Reese sent out a strong message.
"Never satisfied with the short term success. wait & watch this long term progression!" Reese said.
With just seven games left on the Chicago Sky's schedule, the team sits on the verge of postseason contention. If they continue to struggle and are unable to string together wins, the team could wind up missing the postseason entirely.
Angel Reese has repeatedly made it clear that she only cares about winning, not personal success
Throughout this season, Angel Reese has repeatedly made it clear that she doesn't care about personal success.
When Reese logged her seventh double-double, becoming the first WNBA rookie to do so, she was asked about the personal achievement. Reese made it clear that she was just happy the team snapped their losing streak.
In August, she set a franchise record for most offensive boards in a rookie season with 120. However, her team lost their clash against the Phoenix Mercury, leaving the rookie frustrated. After the game, while speaking with reporters, Angel Reese shot down talk of her record, saying:
“I don’t want to hear about no record.”
Then, over the weekend, after breaking the WNBA's single-season rebounding record, Angel Reese once again made it clear that she had no interest in discussing personal accomplishments.
Much like she has in the past, Angel Reese made it clear that her focus is on winning, not on setting records.
With the Sky in need of some big wins, Reese will have to kick it into high gear if she hopes to make the WNBA Playoffs in her rookie year.
