Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese exploded with a monster 10-20 game in an agonizing 82-80 loss against the Connecticut Sun on Friday. Reese had a quiet start, going scoreless until halftime. However, the rookie found her offensive rhythm in the second half, as Chicago nearly pulled off an upset on the road.
The former LSU superstar brought tremendous energy in the second half, playing aggressively on the offensive end. The 22-year-old was so fired up during the third quarter that she hit five-time WNBA All-Star and Paris Olympics gold medalist Alyssa Thomas with the "too small" celebration.
The moment occurred after Reese displayed impressive footwork and used her strength to back Thomas under the rim. Although the rookie missed her first lay-up attempt, she grabbed the offensive rebound and made no mistake on her second try, finishing the lay-up with 2:13 remaining in the period. After scoring the basket, Reese unleashed the "too small" celebration.

In the fourth quarter, it was Thomas' turn to unleash the "too small" celebration. With 5:20 remaining in the game, the Sun star stole the ball and completed a lay-up in transition with two Sky players in front of her.
After bringing her team to within one point, Thomas pulled out the "too small" celebration.
Angel Reese vs. Alyssa Thomas
Both Angel Reese and Alyssa Thomas filled out the stat sheet and posted remarkable numbers. Reese finished the game with 13 points on 3-of-12 shooting from the field. The Sky rookie grabbed 20 rebounds, with seven boards coming on the offensive glass. The 22-year-old also recorded three assists and two block shots.
On the flipside, Thomas dropped 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. The star forward also had nine rebounds, 11 assists, four steals and one block in the game.
For Reese, it was a record-breaking game. Chicago's first-year player became the first rookie in NBA or WNBA history with consecutive 20-rebound games since Shaquille O'Neal in April 1993.
The former LSU player also became the first player in WNBA history to record back-to-back 20-rebound games. Reese grabbed 20 rebounds and scored 19 points in the Sky's game against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
The Chicago star joined Tina Charles as the only rookie in WNBA history with multiple games with at least 20 rebounds. Reese also overhauled Aliyah Boston's mark and jumped to the second place for most rebounds by a WNBA rookie. The Sky rookie has recorded 352 rebounds this season so far and needs 47 more boards to break Tina Charles' all-time record.
