After a remarkable rookie season with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese is trying to expand her game and return to the court in the best possible shape. Now that his wrist injury is completely healed, the forward has returned to the lab and is working to take her game to the next level and stop being a unidimensional scorer.
Reese shared another video of her drills with the basketball, including taking shots from different spots on the court. She's now attempting 3-pointers from the corner, in front of the rim and even long 2-point shots. She shared the video on Instagram with a three-word caption:
"Her All ALONE."
Reese was heavily criticized for her unidimensional game, as she only relied on layups and those shots weren't a given. She attempted 321 of 419 field goals from less than five feet and 36 from five to nine feet.
She played 32.5 minutes in 34 games, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 39.1% from the field and 73.6% from the free-throw line.
Reese was one of the reasons why so many people tuned in to watch games, and she's working to get better ahead of her second season.
Angel Reese has shown off her workouts on social media
Besides expanding her game for her second season in the WNBA, Angel Reese is also preparing to play in the first edition of Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart's Unrivaled League, set to debut in January.
Over the weekend, a video of Reese working on her long-range shot made the rounds on social media. She worked on her catch-and-shoot 3-pointer, which sparked plenty of reactions from fans. She was compared to Ben Simmons, an NBA player who often posts videos making big shots in the offseason.
The Australian point guard always looks sharp in the offseason but fails to translate that workout to actual games. It remains to be seen if Reese will become that type of player or if she'll return to the court better than before.
Along with working on her long-range shot, Reese is also working on her post moves and layup skills. She was criticized for her shortcomings under the rim and is now focused on improving that part of her game. The Chicago Sky failed to make the 2024 WNBA playoffs, and Reese is making sure that doesn't happen again.
