Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark seemingly got a fan ejected from Game 2 of the first-round playoff series against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
With 1:29 left on the clock in the first quarter, the game was stopped. While the referees checked a foul, the arena security approached a fan in the stands and escorted him out of the game after an interaction with Clark.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Clark pointed out a fan in the second row to the referees after seemingly taking offense to something that was said to her.
The fan was reportedly allowed back to their seat after a discussion with security.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever lost the first quarter 17-14 after starting on a 10-4 run. Clark did a little bit of everything, scoring six points with four rebounds and three assists, but the Fever looked lost when she didn't run the offense.
After losing Game 1, the Fever know they need to show a better face to bounce back and extend this series for a win-or-go-home duel at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and the rest of the Fever must bring their A-game to Mohegan Sun Arena to pull this off.
Caitlin Clark not paying attention to distractions
The young guard spoke to ESPN's Holly Rowe about the situation once the first period ended, explaining how she kept her composure after her altercation with the ejected fan.
"I’m calling you ‘Spicy Caitlin’ tonight," Rowe said. "I see you get into it with a fan, with the ref. How do you maintain your composure but still keep your edge?”
"Stay focused about what's on the floor. My four other teammates are right here with me. I think that's the most important. I thought we had a good start," Clark responded.
Clark had a very intense start to the game, playing at a different pace than her teammates. She scored in double digits while filling the stat sheet with rebounds and assists.
Moreover, she starred in a curious moment with Marina Mabrey, seemingly pushing the former Chicago Sky veteran as she went for the ball near the Sun bench.
After scoring 11 points in Game 1, Caitlin Clark has bounced back tonight. This game is crucial for the Fever as they look to extend their season.
