A'ja Wilson has tied the WNBA record by winning her third MVP crown. It is a monumental achievement for the Las Vegas Aces center who continues to exceed expectations year after year. Wilson is only the second player in WNBA history, and the first in 27 years, to be voted the MVP unanimously.

On Sunday, the Aces' official X (formerly) account shared a two-minute clip of Wilson receiving the joyful news. She struggled to hold back the tears as she learned over the phone that she was named the 2024 MVP. Aces players, who were in the room during the call, couldn't contain their excitement and tears flowed as A'ja paid tribute to her teammates for their support in her latest accolade.

"I cannot thank you all enough. I hope you guys understand how much you mean to me. I hope you guys know that this trophy is nothing without y'all. We’ve been through the ringer – and we gon’ continue to go through the ringer – but one thing y’all don’t ever have to worry about is A’ja going anywhere," Wilson said.

Wilson first won the MVP award in just her third season in the league, averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds that year.

In 2022, she was named the league MVP for the second time in her career after finishing with an average of 19.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. She would go on to lead the Las Vegas Aces franchise to their first-ever WNBA championship that year.

This year, Wilson led the league in points, rebounds and blocks to become the fourth player in WNBA history to win a third MVP crown. Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes and Lauren Jackson are the three other players to have won three MVPs.

It has been a remarkable seven-year professional career for A'ja Wilson, who has been one of the most dominant players in the league. At just 28 years old, Wilson is already one of the most decorated players in WNBA history.

After being drafted as the first overall pick in the draft, Wilson was voted the Rookie of the Year in 2018. She has been named to the All-Star team on six occasions and has two Defensive Player of the Year awards to her name.

Along with her three MVP crowns, A'ja Wilson also has two WNBA championships to her name and was voted the finals MVP in 2023.
