Following a crazy finish in the gold medal game, Sabrina Ionescu and Team USA were the last team standing in women's basketball in the 2024 Olympics. After the nail-biting victory, the star guard shared a special moment with people who she shares a tight bond with.
Before his tragic death in 2020, Ionescu had a good relationship with LA Lakers icon Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. She still keeps in touch with his wife Vanessa and his daughters Natalia, Bianka and Capri.
After celebrating with her teammates, Sabrina Ionescu rushed to the crowd to have a moment with the Bryant girls as they were sitting courtside. They were taking in the action with Kobe's former teammate Pau Gasol and his family.

Despite dominating the competition all Olympics, Team USA found themselves in a neck-and-neck matchup with France for the gold medal. Things went down to the final seconds, with a potential game-tying shot falling short.
Gabby Williams knocked down a shot as time expired, but it wasn't enough to send the game into overtime. It was determined that her feet were inside the 3-point line, resulting in a one-point win for the United States.
With the victory, Ionescu added a second gold medal to her growing list of accolades. Before this, she had won gold with Team USA in the World Cup in 2022.
How did Sabrina Ionescu perform for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics?
This WNBA season, Sabrina Ionescu is averaging a career-high 19.8 points per game. However, this is not the same level of impact she had for the United States at the 2024 Olympics.
Heading into the gold medal game, Ionescu was averaging 6.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Her best game was in the United States opening matchup against Japan, where she posted 11 points and five assists in a blowout win.
With this being her first Olympics, Sabrina Ionescu played more of a complementary role for Team USA. That led to her playing limited minutes and not putting up the numbers fans are accustomed to seeing. The win over Japan was the only time she broke double-digits, scoring six, six, two and eight points respectively in her next four games.
Ionescu only ended up playing 10 minutes against France on Sunday and finished the game scoreless. She shot 0-for-1 from the field but tallied two rebounds and three assists.
With the Olympics behind her now, Ionescu will shift her focus back to helping lead the Liberty to a WNBA title.
