Earlier this week, the Club 520 podcast caught a lot of backlash over remarks made about Angel Reese. Following the now-controversial episode, Jeff Teague addressed the situation in hopes of clearing the air.
Teague and his co-hosts didn't say anything wrong about Reese. However, actor Charleston White took things a little too far when talking about the Chicago Sky forward and her professional aspirations.
After the clip made rounds on social media, Teague had no choice but to speak on it on the next episode of the podcast. He stated that they have nothing but love for Angel Reese and only view her as a basketball player.
(5:05) "We had great times with Angel Reese," Teague said. "She cool people. We don't even look at her like that. We look at her like a little sister, a little homie."
Teague went on to say that in a normal situation, that snippet would not have made the final edit of the podcast. The only reason why it saw the light of day was because that episode just so happened to be live.
As for Reese, the former top-10 pick is enjoying some much-needed downtime after her rookie season in the WNBA. Despite having to be shut down early due to injury, she is still expected to compete in the new Unrivaled in January.
Angel Reese brings back old tweet following Charleston White's remarks
In the past, Angel Reese is someone who has never been afraid to respond to her critics. Following this latest incident regarding what Charleston White said, the rising WNBA star took a more subtle approach.
Instead of making a new post, Reese simply re-shared something she put out a couple months ago. It was a simple message, urging people to look out for women in sports. There's no telling if White's comments are why she chose to retweet it, but it happened around the same time the clip started spreading online.
Angel Reese originally made the post back in April, not long after she was drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Sky. Originally, it was in response to provocative photos being made of her, Caitlin Clark and other female athletes with AI.
White made his remarks because of how active Reese has been in the fashion community since going pro. While she's devoted to her basketball career, she is simply expanding her brand and making the most of the opportunities put in front of her.
