Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride continued to show off her scoring prowess as she led her team in scoring against the Atlanta Dream.
McBride recorded another 30-point game as she helped her team win before the WNBA heads to a long break. The guard set out a goal for her tonight and was able to accomplish it with her team.
The Lynx recorded their 17th win of the season, thanks to McBride's scoring. She had 30 points, a rebound and an assist while shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc on eight attempts. The 5-foot-11 guard was also efficient from the field, knocking down nine of her 17 shots.
After the game, she talked about recording her third 30-point game this season and what her goal was heading to tonight's game.
"Both teams were desperate for a win, we just lost a tough one before this. We really wanted to come out here and just be aggressive for 40 minutes," McBride said. "We wanted to protect our home court.
McBride was also asked about her thoughts on making it back to becoming an All-Star for the first time in five years. The guard was voted an All-Star and now has four selections in her career. This will also be the first time she'll represent the Lynx in the event, which makes it extra special.
"It's exciting. They [Team USA] have huge goals this summer in Paris. It's a chance for us to go out there. It's the best league in the world, top players just going at it, it'll be a lot of fun."
McBride has put up incredible numbers this season, averaging 15.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Her efficiency from downtown has helped her become one of the most reliable shooters in the league. This season, she's making 42.4% of her shots from long-range.
Kayla McBride's teammate feels good about her 3-point contest participation
Kayla McBride has proven herself to be one of the best shooters in the league. She's currently fifth in efficiency and will show off her shooting skills in the 3-point shootout during the All-Star weekend.
Her teammate, Courtney Williams, is so confident about McBride winning that she's willing to put all her eggs in one basket.
"Who wanna bet sum? I got whatever on Mac," Williams posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The Lynx guard will have to do well against the other participants, who are yet to be announced by the WNBA. But given the recent trend that she's on, it will be no surprise to see McBride perform at her best.
