WNBA rookie Angel Reese will make her NBA 2K debut in the latest installment of the game, set to release on Sep. 6. NBA 2K recently announced that for the first time, the WNBA MyCareer mode will feature press conferences that allow users to answer their own questions that shape their career, an the league, anticipation is at an all-time high.
On Thursday, NBA 2K unveiled the top five rookies in NBA 2K25, with Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese topping the list with 90 overall ratings. The news comes on the heels of NBA 2K unveiling A'ja Wilson's rating, which will be a 99 overall, making her the highest-rated player in NBA2K25.
In addition, 2K has also unveiled the list of top five WNBA players based on their overall ratings in NBA2K25. A'ja Wilson tops the list with a 99 overall, while Breanna Stewart sits in second place with a 97 overall.
Napheesa Collier sits slightly behind with a 95 overall, tied with Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas, who is rated 95 overall. In fifth place, rounding out the top five with a 94 overall is WNBA legend Brittney Griner.
While the full rosters have yet to be revealed, it appears as though Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, who both have a 90 overall rating, will be among some of the best WNBA players in the game.
Of course, just like in years past, ratings will change throughout the season, with some players receiving rating boosts, and others players seeing their ratings drop.
Angel Reese and Chicago Sky handed 85-65 loss in first game back after WNBA Olympic break
On Thursday, the WNBA season resumed with a highly-anticipated matchup between Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, and the Phoenix Mercury. After Reese and the WNBA All-Stars handed Team USA a 117-109 loss at the WNBA's All-Star weekend in Phoenix, the league went on a month-long break for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
There, Mercury stars Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Kahleah Copper captured Olympic gold for Team USA. The trio then kept the momentum rolling against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Thursday, with Copper and Griner combining for 52 points.
On the flip side, Angel Reese logged another double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, setting a franchise record for most offensive rebounds in a season. Despite her personal accomplishment, Reese struggled from the floor, going just 4-14 as she and the Sky lost a key game against a fellow team fighting for a playoff spot.
Currently, the Sky are in eighth place, putting them on the brink of postseason contention, while the Mercury sit in sixth place with a 14-12 record. After Thursday's loss, Reese will be back in action on Saturday when she and the Sky compete against the LA Sparks, who are currently sitting in 10th place.
