The WNBA's 2024 regular season will conclude on Sept. 19, followed by the playoffs, which is one of the most anticipated events for the league this year. Teams have been working hard to secure a spot in the postseason and contend for the championship.
After the season ends, the playoffs will start on Sept. 22, according to the WNBA website. Depending on how long each round lasts, the postseason could run until Oct. 20.
Seven teams have already clinched a playoff spot. For the Western Conference, the Minnesota Lynx, the Las Vegas Aces, the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury are the teams that have secured a spot.
Both the Dallas Wings and LA Sparks still have a chance to make the postseason.
So far, the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever have all clinched spots for the Eastern Conference. The competition is tougher this season, as many teams are looking to stop the back-to-back league champions, the Aces, from winning a third title in a row.
The Eastern Conference is still waiting for the fourth team that will participate in the playoffs. The Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream both have a record of 11-22. Closely behind is the Washington Mystics, with a 10-23 record.

The Fever are going to the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016
The Indiana Fever have broken an eight-year postseason drought. Thanks to the heroics of star rookie Caitlin Clark, the team is back in action at the 2024 playoffs. The Fever are the most recent team to clinch a playoff berth. The spot was locked-in on Tuesday after a 100-93 win against the Dallas Wings. The team celebrated with a post to X, formerly known as Twitter:
The Fever struggled at the beginning of the season. Clark didn't perform well, which led to a 1-8 start. However, the team picked up the pace after the league's break for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Indiana has played seven games since the return to action and have lost only once.
Clark has been stellar during the seven-game span, winning the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice, in back-to-back weeks. The rookie has averaged 24.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 9.0 assists. She's also shot the ball better, making 38.6% of her shots from the three-point line.
