The close bond of A'ja Wilson and Dawn Staley is no secret. The LV Aces star played for the South Carolina Gamecocks during her days as a collegiate basketball player. She had Staley overlooking her as the head coach during her tenure.

Wilson respects Staley and her experience and the coach does the likewise for the WNBA professional.

However, Wilson once jokingly called Dawn Staley 'Bipolar' in front of WNBA Icons Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and teammate Kelsey Plum. She expressed her thoughts during the "The Bird & Taurasi's Final Four Show" on ESPN in April.

During the segment, Bird showed a video of Staley celebrating with her players and asked A'ja Wilson for her opinion.

"This is why I say that coach Staley is bipolar cuz she'll be up with you on 10 and then she'll snap and be like, 'Yeah we got to practice,'" Wilson said.

The Aces star proceeded to narrate an incident to explain the reason behind her opinion.

"I remember like SEC Tournament, SEC wins would get us our spring break. So, if we won it, we got spring break and then one time she hit us with, 'Uh, just kidding, you guys gotta come in.'
"It's like why do we have to come in, but it's a pretty cool relationship that she forged with us. It's like crazy, but I do say that it's bipolar because sometimes you be laughing with her then next time you're on the line running."

Dawn Staley once compared A'ja Wilson and the other player she coached to the children she never had

Dawn Staley has gained legendary status in South Carolina after the success she had brought to the Gamecocks. During a segment in an interview with News 19 WLTX, Staley compared the players she had coached to the children she never had.

"I mean, I sit back and I'm really just proud. I never birth a child, but I've come close, having so many current and former players. I know what a mother's love feels like. I know what a mother's pride feels like. I know what it feels like to see a young person succeed." (Starts 2:09)
