Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” slogan is quickly spreading. The same theme was at the heart of the Chicago Sky rookie’s collaborative work with Reebok. From shoes and apparel, the slogan will extend to a podcast that will launch on Sept. 5, with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
The “Chi Barbie” announced, via an Instagram story, that her fans will have their “favorite celebrities - actresses, artists and anybody y’all wanna see.” Maya Reese (not related), will be the All-Star forward’s co-host of the show.
Angel Reese likely has a list of people who will come on the show as guests. But, she is also keeping her options open to engage her fans more. It wouldn’t hurt the ratings if some of her guests were somebody the fans wanted to see.
Angel Reese joins Paul George, Draymond Green and LeBron James in the podcast game
Three of the most sought-after podcasts in sports and entertainment are NBA stars Paul George, Draymond Green and LeBron James. The trio is arguably the face of the talk show game among active players.
Reese’s millions of followers and her unapologetic style made it natural for her to join the podcasting genre. She hardly holds back in many of her interviews, a trait her fans will be excited to see more of.
The path blazed by George, Green and James likely served as inspiration and example. Unlike the three, though, the former LSU star will have her talk show in just her first few months of pro basketball.
The “Unapologetically Angel Show” is under the “Playmaker” umbrella
The “Playmaker” has co-produced podcasts with several current and former NBA players. The “Roommates Show,” hosted by New York Knicks stars Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson, is under its wing. “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” featuring Shaquille O’Neal and NBA on TNT host Adam Lefkoe, is also part of the network.
Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel Show” now belongs to the same stable as the said podcasts.
The rookie’s popularity, which has only steadily grown since playing in the WNBA, is expected to do even better once the podcast drops. The show will give fans a new perspective about Reese that might not have been available without the podcast. Fans can’t wait to see and hear more of Reese’s candidness, authenticity and energy starting Sept. 5.
