The 28th season of the WNBA will commence on Tuesday, May 14. With just a couple of weeks to go before tip-off, teams around the WNBA will have to do some preparations to get their players in top shape on opening night.
When does training camp start in the WNBA?
WNBA training is set to begin on Sunday, April 28. Teams have five days to get their players in game shape for the preseason.
When do the WNBA preseason games begin?
WNBA preseason games begin on May 3 and will run until May 12. There are ten preseason games scheduled for ten days. The league has yet to announce games after May 10.
The opening day of the preseason will feature Caitlin Clark's debut as an Indiana Fever against the Dallas Wings. This will be the rookie's first test in the WNBA.
May 4 will have a triple-header featuring the Washington Mystics vs Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky vs Minnesota Lynx. LA Sparks and Seattle Storm will face off on May 5. Rookies Angel Reese, Cameron Brink and Nika Muhl will make their debuts.
A double-header of New York Liberty vs Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury vs Seattle Storm will be on May 7. The Minnesota Lynx will take on the Washington Mystics on May 8.
WNBA finals runners-up New York Liberty will play the Connecticut Sun on May 9.
Another double-header on the sixth day of the preseason will feature the Puerto Rico national team against the defending WNBA champions Las Vegas and the Atlanta Dream versus the Indiana Fever on May 10.
The Las Vegas Aces' game against the Puerto Rican national team is in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Caitlin Clark will have another opportunity to show her skills against the Atlanta Dream. She will go up against Atlanta's international newcomers Isobel Borlase and Nyadiew Puoch from Australia, Nigerian Elizabeth Balogun and Matilde Villa from Italy.
The WNBA may add more preseason games on May 12, a few days before the league's opening night.
