The Seattle Storm will be in Sin City on Sunday to take on the Las Vegas Aces in Game 1 of their playoff series. Seattle and the defending two-time champs battled from mid-August until the end of the regular season to win the No. 4 seed. The Storm gave it their best shot, but the Aces held strong with an impressive finishing kick to end the regular season.

The Aces’ defense of their title becomes more difficult as they host the Storm in the playoffs. Las Vegas is seeded fourth and won the season series against Seattle 3-1, but it can’t get complacent. Newly minted MVP A’ja Wilson and Co. can’t afford to overlook their hungry opponents.

Seattle’s 6-2 stretch to end the regular season was impressive, but Las Vegas’ 9-1 run was even more outstanding. Although the Storm couldn’t wrest a home-court edge from the star-studded team, they will be raring to pull off an upset.

Seattle Storm vs. Las Vegas Aces: Preview

The Seattle Storm had trouble all season long against the Las Vegas Aces, losing the season series 3-1. Seattle’s lone victory came in the first meeting between the two teams when the defending champs got off to a sluggish start. As the season progressed, the Storm couldn’t get the same favorable result.

In Seattle’s three losses, it struggled to contain the Aces’ 3-point shooting and allowed more points off turnovers. If the Storm can address these issues, their chances of winning will improve.

Meanwhile, the Aces seemed to be in cruise control in the regular season until they turned on the jets late. Las Vegas' 9-1 stretch before the playoffs was the best in the WNBA. The reigning champs remain confident that they can sustain their dominance against the Storm once the postseason starts.

A’ja Wilson has just been crowned the WNBA MVP, an award that should only add fuel to the Las Vegas Aces’ title-retention bid. They move a step closer to a three-peat by beating the Seattle Storm in Game 1 on Sunday.
