The WNBA will hold its most anticipated event of the year in Phoenix in the next couple of days. Fans will be flooding the Footprint Center to watch their favorite basketball stars compete in different contests.
The Skills Challenge and Starry 3-Point Contest will be held in the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 19. Fans can buy their tickets to the event via Ticketmaster. What is a Skills Challenge and Starry 3-Point Contest, and who are the participants?
The Skills Challenge and the Starry 3-Point Contest have been part of the All-Star weekend for some time now.
The skills challenge is a course-based game where the contestants have to complete the course in the fastest time possible. A total of five contestants will be participating in the event and the two participants with the fastest time will advance to the final round of the event.
Mercury's Brittney Griner, Sophie Cunnigham, Dream's Allisha Gray, Sun's Marina Mabrey and Fever's Erica Wheeler will be participating in the event.
In the Starry 3-Point Contest, balls will be kept at different locations around the three-point arc. The contestant has to sink as many balls as they can in the hoop in a set amount of time. Each ball is worth one point but there are money balls that are worth two points.
Ultimately, there is a starry ball in the deep shooting zones known as starry zones, and scoring the starry ball will award the player three points. The two players with the most points advance to the final round.
Lynx's Kayla McBride, Sun's Marina Mabrey, Dream's Allisha Gray, Mystics' Stefanie Dolson, and Liberty's Jonquel Jones will be participating in the event.
