Seattle Storm rookie Nika Muhl has had a tumultuous debut season in the WNBA. The Croatian point guard first needed to sort out visa issues before she was able to suit up for the Storm. Once that was done, she had to spend a lot of time on the bench, not getting as much playing time as other high-profile rookies like Caitlin Clark, Aaliyah Edwards or Angel Reese.

While she gets through her first season in the league, Muhl has a lot of people behind her. Besides her parents, Darko and Roberta Muhl, Nika has one sister trying to follow in her footsteps and become a professional player in the future.

Hana Muhl is the younger sibling of Nika. She's also a point guard playing for the Manhattan Jaspers for the 2024-25 season after transferring from Ball State.

Listed at 5'8", Hana Muhl represented Croatia in the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket in July. Before playing in the tournament held in Bulgaria, she was selected for the Croatian national teams from U14 to U18.

Just like Nika, Hana grew up in Zagreb, following the path that her parents and sister took, becoming a basketball player too. In an interview with MSN, Nika Muhl said that Hana looked up to her, which was a big responsibility as her big sister.

“I didn’t think she would ever admit that she looked up to me, but a couple of days ago she actually told me how proud she was of me and how all these years she has been looking up to me, trying to copy everything I do.
"It just means so much to me that, first, she’s able to admit it and that being a big sister is such a blessing, and such a huge responsibility, not just being a big sister but being a best friend to her.”

Nika Muhl gets candid on lack of playing time with Storm

After being taken as the No. 14 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Nika Muhl landed in Seattle to play with the four-time champion Storm. Despite being an exciting prospect, she wasn't given a lot of minutes on the court. Storm coach Noelle Quinn even praised her, saying she didn't play like a rookie, but that didn't grant her playing time.

Even so, the Croatian guard didn't let that ruin her confidence, saying that she keeps working behind the scenes, whether she gets to play or not.

"Everybody looks at not playing as something so horrible and so bad, but behind the scenes, I’m working my b*tt off," she said in an interview.

Nika Muhl has only played 13 games this season, averaging 2.6 minutes per game, 0.5 rebounds and 0.1 assists per outing.
