Kamilla Cardoso has been considered one of the best women’s basketball players since high school. From her stint at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy to two championships at South Carolina, the Brazilian has superstar written all over her. It may not be long before she continues that trend in the WNBA.

Cardoso, though, also has a talent that most are unaware of. Outside of dominating basketball, she has another hobby. The Chicago Sky rookie shared in a TikTok video what she dabbles in when not playing center for her team. She flaunted her artwork during the said clip:

“Who is da Vinci near me? Who is Pablo Picasso?”

Kamilla Cardoso was unquestionably joking because her work didn’t come close to what the famed painters have accomplished in their legendary lives. If one has to choose, it seems like Cardoso’s painting had some elements of Cubism rather than da Vinci’s sfumato style, or “smoke.” Her work, however, does need more improvement to come close to Picasso’s style.

Cardoso, though, could be one of the best painters in the WNBA. The Chicago Sky rookie center’s sample work could go toe-to-toe with other players with the same artistic inclination. She is not a professional with her craft but it should be good enough to compete against her colleagues.

Kamilla Cardoso’s game needs more work, like her artistic hobby

Kamilla Cardoso had a successful collegiate career that was highlighted by two NCAA women’s championships. She deservedly won the Most Outstanding Player award this year after leading South Carolina over Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes for the title. Cardoso’s dominance hasn’t been there yet in the WNBA, though.

The shoulder injury that Cardoso suffered to start the season likely stunted her development. Like her artwork, her game needs more improvement to be considered one of the stars in the pro ranks. The Brazilian only needs to look at teammate and fellow rookie Angel Reese, who was named an All-Star this year.

This season, Kamilla Cardoso is averaging 8.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. Cardoso, who is 6-foot-7, has been outscored (14.1 PPG) and outrebounded (11.9 RPG) by the 6-foot-3 Reese. “Chi Barbie” was drafted four spots after Cardoso, but it has been her who has been significantly better.

Cardoso was proud and confident about her artwork. She must be feeling the same thing about how she can improve her game now that she is healthy.
