On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Aces played against the Chicago Sky at the Michelob Ultra Arena. However, the focus wasn't solely on the high-profile players. At the end of the game, one analyst in particular expressed dissatisfaction with the referee's officiating.
After a series of questionable calls and some restlessness from the fans, WNBA analyst and writer Nekias Duncan sent out the following message regarding the officiating:
"Safe to say that nobody is happy with the refs tonight lol"
The referees missed calls on both sides of the court, leaving many disappointed. The 93-85 victory for the Chicago Sky keeps them firmly in the playoff hunt.
The Sky improved to 10-14 on the season and remained in eighth place. The Las Vegas Aces dropped to 16-8 after the loss and they are half a game behind the Seattle Storm in the fourth spot.
Chennedy Carter registers season-high 34 points to lead the Sky over the Aces
In a game that featured six Olympians, Chennedy Carter stood out and came through with some clutch shots in key moments. The 25-year-old finished the night with a season-high 34 points and contributed with four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
The Aces fell behind early in this game but battled bravely to cut the deficit late in the fourth quarter. Las Vegas had it down to four points in the third quarter and tied the game in the fourth quarter. A 3-pointer from Megan Gustafson in the fourth even gave them a one-point lead.
However, every time it looked like Vegas was going on a run, Carter stepped up to make a critical shot to frustrate the home crowd.
It was a good fightback from the Aces, especially considering they were down 21 points at one stage. In the end, it turned out to be a hole too big to climb for A'ja Wilson and her teammates.
