Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have received heavy praise for their post-All-Star break turnaround. The most recent proof of this came against the Connecticut Sun, a team they lost to in their first three meetings this season.
Clark finished with 19 points. Her court presence drew a lot of attention, especially when she got back at DiJonai Carrington and scored a bucket right after she tried to silence Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a 3-pointer. The Fever went on to win 84-80.
WNBA analyst Elle Duncan showered the Fever's turnaround with praise while highlighting that Caitlin Clark didn't duck any smoke against DiJonai Carrington.
"The first couple of weeks after the All-Star break when they were winning games, it was like, this is a team that could sneak into the playoffs. And now this is like a team that's currently crip walking into the playoffs. They are going in two total and different directions. DiJonai Carrington, yesterday had one of those 'how it started vs how it ended' moments," Duncan said.
This comment referred to Caitlin Clark's comeback after DiJonai Carrington responded to a 3-pointer with another and put one of her fingers on her lips to quiet the Fever fans. Clark took the ball right after that shot, attacked Carrington and scored over her in what could have been an and-1 play.
The Indiana Fever have been on a tear in the last couple of months. Even before the All-Star break, they showed a renewed face and started playing better. They have the second-best post-break record in the league (4-1) only behind the Minnesota Lynx, who are yet to lose a game since Aug. 15.
They've averaged the third-most points per game over that span with 87.6, rank fourth in field goal percentage with 44.7, and third in rebounds with 40 per game.
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever will play final regular-season matchup against the Sky on Friday
Two days after closing their regular-season series against the Connecticut Sun, the Indiana Fever will do the same against the Chicago Sky. They will be trying to win the 16th game of the season, hit the .500 mark for the first time and win the series against Angel Reese and company.
Every duel between these young teams has been extremely competitive; two of the three games ended in one-point margins. The Fever, who have a 2-1 advantage in the season series, are in so much better shape than the Sky at this moment, but none of that mattered when they clashed the first three times.
Led by Caitlin Clark, the Fever will be a dangerous opponent in the upcoming playoffs and they're keen to add more wins to their record and finish the season on the highest possible note.
