WNBA fans were not kind to Los Angeles Sparks star Lexie Brown after she shared her opinion concerning Caitlin Clark in the WNBA MVP race. In the latest episode of the "Gil's Arena" show, Brown was asked about the scenario that would allow Clark to pass A'ja Wilson in the MVP race.
The Sparks star had a straightforward answer. She said that Wilson had to stop playing for Clark to have a shot at the MVP title. However, her statements did not sit right with former NBA star Rashad McCants, who was also a panelist. He argued Brown's take with an explanation of his own highlighting the reasons for the Indiana Fever rookie to win the MVP honor.
The WNBA fans were not pleased with Brown's words as well. They flooded the comments section with their opinions. One fan called the Sparks player one of the biggest Clark "haters."
"Lexie brown is one of the biggest haters. Yes the fever, have great pieces. But they won 13 games with those pieces last year. The only thing different now is Caitlin. So that has to be taken into account."
Other fans joined the fray and berated Brown for her opinion:
"Lexi needs to shut up. She reaching that Swoopes level," @phillip_yoo said.
"Lexi is SEETHING," @xeetek said.
"Chick is a hater," @mrgibber45 said.
Other fans expressed their thoughts about Brown not liking Clark:
"Whenever i watch this panel u can tell the lady on the panel doesn’t like Clark, don’t think I’ve seen a panel like this before where one participant dislikes one player," @lovehockey_mtl said.
"Lexi please… you hating at this point!" @DDarion248 said.
Brown has been out of action for weeks because of her Crohn's disease. She last played for the Sparks in June and has been listed in the injury reports ever since. On the contrary, Clark is having an incredible season. She led her team to a strong start after the international break, winning two consecutive games.
Lexie Brown chooses Caitlin Clark as ROTY over Angel Reese
During her appearance on Gil's Arena last month, Brown chose Clark as her preferred candidate to win the ROTY award. When asked about her opinion on the ROTY race between the Indiana Fever rookie and Sky's Angel Reese, Brown highlighted the strengths of both players. However, she revealed her final thoughts at the end of her speech.
"For me, the way I like to play basketball. My vote would be for Caitlin but It's close. I wouldn't be mad at either one of them," Brown said.
She also discussed the rivalry between Clark and Reese, pointing out that the race was healthy for the league.
