Leading up to the inaugural season of Unrivaled basketball, Satou Sabally told members of the press that she had informed the Dallas Wings of her plans to part ways with the franchise. At the time, Sabally indicated that she had played her final game for the Wings, leading to a whole bunch of trade talk among WNBA fans.

The Wings went ahead with giving Sabally core player designation, with the expectation being that a sign-and-trade was the most likely route the front office would go. Since then, there has been tons of speculation that Sabally could join her sister and her college teammate Sabrina Ionescu on the Liberty.

On the other hand, others speculated that she could join Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. However, that may not be the case.

WNBA analyst Sabreena Merchant of The Athletic believes that it's only a matter of time before Sabally winds up in New York. In a new piece published on Tuesday, Merchant predicts landing spots for a number of top free agents, including Sabally.

The question, of course, is what sort of pieces does Dallas have to give up in order to acquire the standout forward.

As Merchant wrote, the Liberty have a number of first-round picks available. However, given that the team is fresh off a championship and isn't expected to experience a sharp decline, those picks won't be worth as much as the ones offered by teams like the Sparks.

That's where, as Merchant wrote, veterans and players on rookie contracts could be added to a potential package that lands the Liberty Satou Sabally.

Satou Sabally and Phantom BC fall to 0-2 over Unrivaled opening weekend as WNBA trade talks pick up

While Satou Sabally has been one of the most widely-discussed players regarding the WNBA's free agency, she is currently playing for Phantom BC in the inaugural Unrivaled season.

Along with Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Marina Mabrey, Natasha Cloud and Katie Lou Samuelson, Sabally is looking to raise the inaugural Unrivaled championship trophy.

So far, however, the team has had a tough go through Unrivaled's opening weekend. In Phantom's opening game, the team was handed an 86-48 loss by Laces BC, led by Kayla McBride.

The team then returned to action on Monday, where they dropped their second straight loss, this time at the hands of Vinyl BC.

While their season hasn't been going according to plan, by the time the it ends, Phantom BC teammates Satou Sabally and Sabrina Ionescu could be WNBA teammates as well.
