WNBA Rumors: 2-time Coach of the Year in contention to become new head coach of Angel Reese-led Chicago Sky.

Two-time WNBA Coach of the Year Curt Miller has reportedly emerged as an early contender for the Chicago Sky's head coach position. According to Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times, Miller and the Sky's front office have engaged in "preliminary discussions" as general manager Jeff Pagliocca continues the search for a successor to Teresa Weatherspoon.

The Sky parted ways with Teresa Weatherspoon after just one season as head coach. Despite having star rookie Angel Reese on the roster, the team finished the regular season with a 13-27 record and failed to qualify for the playoffs under Weatherspoon's leadership.

Meanwhile, Miller was fired by the LA Sparks following the 2024 WNBA regular season, where the team finished with a league-worst 8-32 record. The Sparks struggled with injuries throughout the season, including the absence of star rookie Cameron Brink. Over his two seasons with the franchise, Miller posted a 25-55 record, with the team failing to reach the playoffs in both years.

Despite his disappointing recent stint with the Sparks, Miller brings an impressive coaching resume in the WNBA. Before joining the Sparks, Miller spent seven successful years with the Connecticut Sun, guiding the team to two WNBA Finals. While the Sun didn’t secure a championship, they achieved a strong 140-86 record during his tenure as head coach.

"So Curt who lost more games than T-spoon? That Curt? A Curt who doesn’t know how to adjust lineups to give his team a chance to win? Oh ok," a fan wrote.
"His season with the Sparks was worse than Spoons. Why would we want him in Chicago?" wrote another X user.
"This Curt Miller the Sparks finished 25-55 in Miller's two seasons in LA and did not qualify for the playoffs during his tenure. what a joke.... I Pray Angel get far away from this Organization.... Jeff Pagliocca is an idiot," said another fan.
"If the Sky hire Curt Miller, their franchise is officially doomed! Smh!" wrote another.

It will be intriguing to see how the Chicago Sky's front office approaches the head coach decision, especially with a talented roster featuring rising stars Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
