LA Sparks veteran Kia Nurse made a plea about late-night NBA games. Since Sept. 2020, Nurse has been an analyst with the Canadian network TSN for their basketball coverage. She started covering the NBA and the WNBA playoffs when she was still a member of the New York Liberty.
After four years working with the network, Nurse posted her thoughts on late-night games via Instagram on Saturday. She shared a post of broadcast partner Leo Rautins but included a message asking to ban games at certain hours.
"10:30 PM GAMES SHOULD BE BANNED 😂," Nurse captioned the post.
Kia Nurse and the TSN crew covered Saturday's LA Clippers versus Toronto Raptors game. Since the Clippers were the home team, the game was scheduled to start at 10:30 p.m. E.T. The hosts won the duel 105-103 at Crypto.com Arena to improve to 6-4, while the Raptors's season (2-8) took a further hit.
James Harden and Norman Powell scored 24 points each, with 'The Beard' adding 12 rebounds and seven assists. Ivica Zubac also posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
On the other end, Immanuel Quickley and Ochai Agbaji led the Raptors with 21 points while Gradey Dick added 15 units.
The Raptors will face the LA Lakers on Sunday night, meaning Kia Nurse and Co. would have to stay late to cover this matchup.
Revisiting Kia Nurse's first season with LA Sparks
After signing a two-year deal with the Seattle Storm in 2023 as a free agent, Kia Nurse was traded to the LA Sparks in January. She joined a young and inexperienced team that landed two intriguing rookies, Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson.
“I’m excited about that and that opportunity to just be out here and get on the board and play better than I played last year,” Nurse said in April, per TSN. “Ultimately I’m more hard on myself than anybody else could be possibly and I know that so [I’m] giving myself a little bit of grace for last year but wanting to be a lot better than I was.”
In 40 games played with the Sparks, she averaged 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while playing 20.3 minutes per outing. She shot 38.8% from the field and 79.3% from the free-throw line for the 8-32 Sparks.
Kia Nurse will become an unrestricted free agent in 2025 unless the Sparks secure her services before.
