While Angel Reese had an impressive rookie season, her team's performance was far from stellar. Finishing last in the Eastern Conference at 13-27, the Chicago Sky missed the WNBA playoffs for the first time in six years. It seems, however, that help is on the way as Reese embarks on her second season with the Sky.

On the Jan. 9 episode of "The Chicago Lead," Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times went through a list of notable free agents the Sky could target.

Among these players, she highlighted one who was more likely than the others to be Chicago-bound: a star guard who's played alongside A'ja Wilson for most of her career.

"Kelsey (Plum)ahas a significant connection with Tyler Marsh, which could keep that door open for the Sky," said Costabile.

Plum, the lefty scoring machine whose expiring contract is worth $400,000, according to Spotrac, won two championships with the Las Vegas Aces in 2022 and 2023.

During that span, Marsh was an assistant coach and head of player development. His quality work in these roles helped him land the head coaching job in Chicago following Teresa Witherspoon's dismissal in 2024.

While Plum's association with Marsh gives the Sky a bit of an edge, Costabile went on to explain why the three-time All-Star might not be headed to Chicago.

"We know that Kelsey's coming from a space and a place that has all the bells and whistles," Costabile said. "And the Sky do not (have that)"

While the Sky languished in the cellar of the East, the Aces had a robust 27-13 record, landing them the second seed in the Western Conference. Las Vegas advanced to the second round of the 2024 playoffs, where they lost in four games to the eventual champions, the New York Liberty.

Chicago Sky fans plead with Angel Reese to recruit former lottery pick

Aside from Plum, Chicago Sky fans have another free agent in mind. They’ve even taken to social media to encourage Angel Reese to recruit this player to Chicago.

After a brief TikTok exchange between Reese and Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally, fans did what they could to try to make the Sabally signing a reality.

"Definitely we need her on our team," a fan wrote..
"Babe go get some Chicago merch now we need this one," another expressed.

With the 2025 WNBA season set to tip off in a few months, Reese and the rest of the Sky organization are in search for talents to bolster their team.
