Kelsey Plum and Jewell Loyd are reportedly the pieces that will cause a domino effect in the WNBA this offseason. The two guards are on their way out of the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm, respectively, and their situations could unlock a trade that would kickstart plenty of moves around the league.

According to Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times, a three-team trade could be brewing at this moment. Said move would send Plum and Loyd to new franchises with a third one joining the Aces and Storm to unlock negotiations.

"Every free agency period, one move serves as the catalyst for all others in the WNBA.
"This year, that move is a three-team trade that would send Jewell Loyd to the Aces, Kelsey Plum to the Sparks and assets to the Storm. Multiple league sources familiar with the proposed trade have indicated that until it’s finalized, other moves will not be made.

The issue at this moment is that the Storm need to get a fitting package to pull the trigger on the trade. Costabile adds that Loyd's trade request in December changed her team's plans. Her desire to join the Aces ended conversations between the Storm and Sky, who could have sent their No. 3 overall pick to Seattle and completed the exchange.

The issue with a Kelsey Plum for Jewell Loyd straightforward trade is that Plum and Skylar Diggins-Smith have similar styles of play, which would make them an awkward fit. The Sparks have an intriguing group of players with Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson and Dearica Hamby and the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. Plum could thrive there while trying to league another big-market franchise to a championship.

Kelsey Plum shouted out Seattle amid ongoing trade rumors

Last week Kelsey Plum was back at the University of Washington for a special ceremony. Plum's No. 1 Huskies jersey became the first ever to be retired in the history of UW women's basketball.

While in Seattle, she had the chance to talk about her experience and even lauded the city she was in.

"I'm just so grateful to be here," Plum said. "It just feels like a full-circle moment. Just really proud to represent this university. And honestly, just the people here at brunch and then of course during the game today. I just feel really grateful."

After winning two WNBA championships, Kelsey Plum is out of Michelob ULTRA Arena.
