The WNBA trade rumors surrounding Satou Sabally and Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever continue picking up steam. Sabally publicly announced that she won't return to Dallas next season ahead of her free agency. The Wings cored her to get some value in return, making her a sign-and-trade candidate. The Fever have been widely perceived as a rumored landing spot along with the New York Liberty.
WNBA analyst Terrika Foster-Brasby has suggested that Indiana is the more compelling landing spot for Sabally. Here's what she said on the "On Her Turf" show on Tuesday:
"First team that comes to my mind is Indiana. I know that sounds crazy, but I think Indiana would be a great place if she wants to leave Dallas. New head coach, new opportunities there. They are already a playoff team, and we've already heard and seen that there has been some questions about what NaLyssa Smith wants to do."
Smith is in the final year of her deal and a trade candidate. Foster-Brasby hinted that she could make a place for Sabally on the team if the Fever and Smith part ways this offseason. Foster-Brasby was enticed by the prospects of Satou Sabally teaming up with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, forming a new big three for the Fever.
Not only that, it could end up being a big four if Kelsey Mitchell, who is also a free agent, stays with the Fever next season.
WNBA trade rumors: Caitlin Clark-led Fever could face competition for Satou Sabally's signature
Satou Sabally is one of the top commodities in the offseason. The German player has spent five seasons in the WNBA, all with the Dallas Wings. She has averaged 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 97 appearances. Sabally could be an excellent addition to the Indiana Fever next to Caitlin Clark.
However, if the Fever have any level of interest, they will face stiff competition for her signature. They could rival the defending champions, New York Liberty, in the Sabally sweepstakes. New York is already one of the title favorites over the Fever. Additionally, Sabally's sister, Nyara, also plays on the team.
Another incentive for the trade candidate is to team up with her former college teammate, Sabrina Ionescu. Satou Sabally is also playing with her on the same team in the inaugural Unrivaled season, which starts Friday.
