Fans shared their reactions after finding out that the Las Vegas Aces waived rookie Dyaisha Fair. Many were expecting her to excel with the team that drafted her(second-round pick), as they were the reigning champions but the tables have turned now.
Fair only played one game this season and didn't register a point, rebound or assist. She only spent four minutes against the Indiana Fever.
Fans were surprised to see a promising rookie get waived by the team that drafted her.
"YIKES! This is so unfortunate," one fan said as they enumerated her accomplishments in college.
"She didn’t even have a chance to show what she got," one fan pointed out how Fair hasn't gotten any chances in the league yet.
"Too short... she had no chance," another fan pointed out how her stint with the Aces was too short.
"Fair didn’t get a fair chance," one fan said.
A few fans are hoping to see another team pick her up.
"Hopefully she can go somewhere that has minutes for her," one fan said about the move.
"She will be picked up by another team, without a doubt," another fan has confidence that Fair will get her chance.
With the limited number of teams in the WNBA, roster spaces are also limited. According to their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), teams have a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 12 players.
The Aces met the maximum number of players with Fair on the team but they decided to waive the rookie.
Taking a closer look at Dyaisha Fair's collegiate career
Dyaisha Fair played five years in college for two schools. She spent three years with Buffalo, where she had some of her highest scoring seasons.
In her rookie season, Fair averaged 22 points, 5.9 points and 3.5 assists. The following season, she followed it up by increasing her scoring output.
The 5-foot-5 guard showed her scoring prowess and averaged 24.1 points, six rebounds and 5.1 assists in her sophomore season.
Fair played 34 games in her third year, which is the most games she played in college. She recorded 23.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists in her final season at Buffalo.
She transferred to Syracuse, where she continued her scoring barrage. Her numbers went down a bit and had 19.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Fair made the most of her final year in college with 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
