While most of the Indiana Fever roster consists of younger players like Caitlin Clark, Erica Wheeler is someone who has been in the league for some time. As she begins her offseason, the former WNBA All-Star reflected on an old highlight against an all-time great.

Before returning to the Fever in 2023, Wheeler had a stint with the LA Sparks in 2020. Looking back on that season, a fan shared an old clip on X of her crossing over Sue Bird and making her fall.

Erica Wheeler ended up responding to the fan's post to further validate her skills, emphasizing that this is just one of many highlights of her career.

"Hahaha well here you go! You know now! It’s more out there"

Wheeler's season with the Sparks was one of the best of her career. She played in 32 games and averaged a career-high 13.6 points along with 3.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

The days of being an All-Star are behind for Wheeler, as she plays a limited role for the Fever now. While she appeared in 39 of 40 games in the regular season, she averaged just 14 minutes a game.

Erica Wheeler gearing up to spend the WNBA offseason playing overseas

In the WNBA, it is customary for players to play year-round. When the season comes to a close, most players pack up and play overseas. It appears that Erica Wheeler will be among those doing so in the coming months.

Earlier this week, Wheeler gave the world an update on what's ahead for her. The Indiana Fever guard posted on X (formerly Twitter) that she'll be playing in Turkey. She also provided her team's social media page, asking fans to follow to keep up with how she performs overseas.

Nesibe Aydin also made a post just for Erica Wheeler after she agreed to a deal with the team.

Wheeler first began playing overseas in 2021 after opting not to play in the WNBA in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, she's played in Europe in each of the last four winters. Wheeler's overseas career began in Turkey, but she's primarily played in Poland.

While playing professionally in Europe, Wheeler will also be attending to business in the WNBA. This offseason, she is set to hit the free agent market. Fresh off ending their playoff drought, there is no telling if the Fever will attempt to keep Wheeler around as a veteran presence for the young squad.
