“You’ve had my back through a lot”- When Kate Martin and Iowa players told Caitlin Clark what she meant as a ‘person’

Caitlin Clark made a name for herself long before she entered the WNBA. She was quite popular as an Iowa Hawkeyes player.

A Clark fan page on X posted a video in which Kate Martin and the Iowa players told Clark what she meant to them as a person. The video was originally posted on the Hawkeyes' X handle in February this year.

The video starts with the narrator explaining that everybody knew Clark as "the basketball player." So she asked the Iowa players to explain what they thought or liked about the Indiana Fever star as a person when she was with them.

"You had my back through a lot, off the court stuff and the stuff whatever it is. I really appreciate it," Kate Martin said.

The other Iowa Hawkeyes Women's basketball team members praised Clark for her passion for the game and her availability for her teammates in need. The video covered the program's incredible run in the 2022-23 season which included them winning the 2023 Big Ten Women's basketball tournament.

It was a trip down memory lane for all the Iowa fans and the players. Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes went to the championship game in 2024 also. However, they lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks with a final score of 87-75.

After that, Clark declared for the 2024 WNBA draft where the Fever drafted her as the No. 1 pick.

Caitlin Clark signs a fan's shoes while she sports Kate Martin's gear

Caitlin Clark has been making quite the buzz with her newfound passion for golf. The Indiana Fever star has participated in a few pro golfing tournaments during the WNBA offseason. During one golfing event, a fan met Clark when it was raining.

However, the Indiana Fever star did not worry about the poor weather conditions and agreed to make the fan's day by signing her shoes. The two talked while walking through the golf course.

"Hello, how are you?" Clark asked. "Want me to sign your shirt? Yeah, I got you."

The fan was wearing a Kate Martin jersey, and Caitlin Clark, one of Martin's best friends since their days together in Iowa, immediately recognized the jersey. The Fever star told the fan that she would tell Martin about her.

"I'll tell Kate you're wearing her shirt," Clark added. "I'll tell her I found a fan."

The fan then revealed that her name was also Martin and that she had to wear that.
