Rebekkah Brunson is a former WNBA player, who is currently the Assistant Coach for the Minnesota Lynx. She attended Georgetown University where she set the record as the women’s basketball program's all-time leading rebounder. She entered the WNBA in 2004 when she was selected by the Sacramento Monarchs in the first round of the WNBA Draft and immediately established herself as a tenacious defender and a rebounder. Brunson was instrumental in the Monarchs’ first WNBA Championship in 2005, as she averaged 7.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. After the Monarchs stopped playing, she moved to Minnesota Lynx in 2010 where she also performed exceptionally well and became the WNBA’s first five-time champion (2005, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) and multiple-time All-Star.

After her last season in 2018, Brunson took up coaching and commentating as her new career path. She is currently an assistant coach of the Minnesota Lynx. She continues to be an analyst in addition to her coaching responsibilities.

Rebekkah Brunson played college basketball for Georgetown University from the year 2000 to 2004. As a forward, she immediately assumed a position of importance on the team and was well-regarded for her great rebounding and defensive abilities. Brunson’s contribution was felt right from her first season, and she was named to the Big East All-Freshman Team in 2001. In her four years at Georgetown, she set a record for the most rebounds ever achieved, which is a clear indication of her hardworking nature. Brunson was a key player in the Hoyas’ team, as she was able to control the boards and was a strong defender. She was usually the team’s leader in rebounds and blocks as she averaged 10.2 rebounds per game throughout her collegiate career.

Besides the records in rebounding, Brunson also contributed a lot on the attacking side of the game. She was a consistent shooter for the Hoyas and was usually among the top scorers for the team while being a force to reckon with in the paint, averaging 16.5 points per game throughout her collegiate career, shooting at an efficient clip of 48.5% from the field. Brunson’s college career ended with her being selected 10th overall in the WNBA Draft by the Sacramento Monarchs in 2004 to start a professional career that culminated in her becoming one of the most well-regarded players in WNBA history.
