The 36-year-old sharpshooter, Sami Whitcomb plays as a shooting guard for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA as of September 2024. She signed a training camp contract with the Chicago Sky in 2010 but was waived two weeks later. She returned to the WNBA in 2017 as the Seattle Storm recruited her after seeing her dominate in the Australian league.

Whitcomb won two WNBA Championships with the Storm in 2018 and 2020. She was then traded to the New York Liberty in 2021 but returned in 2023 and since then she has contributed consistently from the bench and finished fourth in the 2023 Sixth-Player of the Year voting.

Whitcomb first represented Australia at the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. She led the Aussies to a second-place finish and averaged 8.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She then represented Australia at the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup and won the bronze medal. She averaged 17.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game.

Whitcomb participated in her second FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2022 which was hosted by Australia. She averaged 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists as Australia finished third. In 2024, Whitcomb participated in her first Olympics and won her first Olympic medal as Australia defeated Belgium in the bronze medal match. She averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
