Stephanie Joanne White (formerly Stephanie White-McCarty) is a former famous basketball player and coach. White started her playing career at Purdue University where she played for the university’s women's basketball team, which she led to an NCAA Women’s National Championship in 1999, among other achievements, she was awarded the Wade Trophy and Big Ten Player of the Year. She was selected by the Charlotte Sting during the 1999 WNBA Draft and later played for the Indiana Fever for most of her career. White retired from playing in 2004 and moved to a coaching assistant role at different institutions before joining Indiana Fever as the head coach in 2015.

In 2016, White became the head coach for the Vanderbilt Commodores women’s basketball team up to 2021. In November 2022, White was hired to be the head coach of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA, which added her skills and love for the sport to the team.

Stephanie White played college basketball for Purdue University from 1995 to 1999. White played as a guard-forward and was a key player in Purdue Boilermakers’ major accomplishments which included the 1999 NCAA Women’s National Championship. During her college years which spanned four years, she was able to tally 2,182 points, 667 rebounds, 578 assists and 277 steals. White was a scorer as she achieved double figures in scoring every season with a career-high of 20.6 points per game during her junior year.

During her tenure, the Boilermakers achieved two regular season Big Ten championships, wherein she was the Big Ten Athlete of the Year as well as the Big Ten Player of the Year. She also proved her effectiveness in stressful conditions during Purdue’s championship campaign. White’s college experience paved the way for her professional WNBA career and coaching profession, proving her impact on women's basketball.
