The 2024 Paris Olympics women's 3x3 basketball event will kick off with Team USA facing Germany on Tuesday. Team USA vs. Germany: Game Preview
Team USA qualified for the women's 3x3 basketball event as the reigning champions and will look to defend their title at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Though the team will not feature any of the players that won in the 2020 event, Team USA still boasts a strong roster to clinch the title this year.
The USA women's roster includes 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup winners Cierra Burdick and Hailey Van Lith along with WNBA All-Stars Rhyne Howard and Dearica Hamby. Cameron Brink was previously listed on the team, however, she was replaced by Hamby after Brink suffered an ACL tear in June.
Meanwhile, Germany's Olympic roster for the women's 3x3 event comprises of Svenja Brunckhorst, Sonja Greinacher, Marie Reichert and Elisa Mevius. The German team qualified for the event for the first time after they won the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Hungary in mid-May.
They were previously the No. 1 seed at the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2 held in Japan in the first week of May. However, they were unable to book their spot in that tournament after a big loss to Canada in the semifinals.
Team USA vs. Germany: Prediction
Team USA are the heavy favorites to kick off their second 3x3 Olympic gold-medal campaign with a win against Germany on Tuesday. The USA roster has a talent advantage which should be enough to help them secure a convincing victory.
