The Indiana Fever has been one of the most thrilling teams to watch this WNBA season, with Caitlin Clark leading the way and the team now in playoff contention. As the WNBA season is set to resume on Thursday, it will be intriguing to see if the Fever explore potential trade targets.

The league has been on hiatus for the 2024 Paris Olympics since the WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix on July 20. However, even with the action paused, trade rumors have continued to circulate ahead of the Aug. 20 trade deadline.

Here are three players the Indiana Fever could consider acquiring to boost their playoff chances.

#1. Brittney Sykes

Caitlin Clark has solidified her position as the franchise's cornerstone. But the Fever still needs playmakers off the bench who can also complement her in certain lineups.

One such target is the Washington Mystics' Brittney Sykes with career averages of 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Sykes’ season has been plagued by injuries, limiting her to just three games. She dealt with an ankle injury earlier in the season and suffered a foot injury that has kept her out since before the Olympic break.

Her injury history might make her a buy-low trade option for the Indiana Fever, offering them a reliable scoring guard with veteran experience.

#2. Julie Vanloo

The Fever might also consider another Mystics guard, Julie Vanloo.

Despite this being her rookie season in the league, she has shown promise as a steady playmaker, averaging 8.0 ppg and 5.1 apg. Her efficiency could improve, but with the right fit on the Fever, those numbers could rise.

Vanloo could help manage playmaking duties, reduce Clark’s turnovers, and provide valuable minutes as a dependable backup.

#3. Azura Stevens

Azura Stevens has only appeared in three games this season due to an offseason arm injury sustained in China. However, she made the most of those games for the LA Sparks, averaging 11.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 4.0 apg while shooting 50% from 3.

With the Sparks sitting far outside the playoff race, they might consider trading Stevens to a team with playoff ambitions.

Last year, she played in 35 games, starting 29 of them, and averaged just over 26 mpg. She posted 10.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.1 apg and 1.2 spg with shooting splits of 40.4% from the field, 32.1% from 3 and 75.4% from the free-throw line.

Stevens could provide the Indiana Fever with another scoring option and should fit in well alongside Clark and Aliyah Boston.
