Caitlin Clark's meteoric rise in the WNBA continues. The Indiana Fever rookie has already set historic benchmarks this season. On Wednesday, she hit the record for the most number of assists in a single game in league history, surpassing Courtney Vandersloot.

While the achievement was stellar, it was not a winning ending for Clark and the Fever as the Dallas Wings pulled off a 101-93 win. Clarke ended her evening with 24 points, 19 assists and six rebounds.

Clark came into the WNBA as the NCAA Divison I all-time scorer and the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Leading up to the game against Dallas, she had scored or assisted on 66 points for Indiana, the most in a league game, surpassing Diana Taurasi (65). She also became the second rookie in league history, joining Candace Parker in 2008, to score or dish out 50 or more points in multiple skirmishes.

#1. Caitlin Clark | 19 assists vs. Dallas Wings (2024)

Caitlin Clark showcased her playmaking prowess as she landed 19 assists to set the WNBA's single-game assists record. Clark, whose previous career high was 13 assists in a single contest, now leads the chart with just 26 games in the WNBA. She surpassed now-New York Liberty guard Courtney Vandersloot in the process.


#2. Courtney Vandersloot | 18 assists vs. Indiana Fever (2020)

Courtney Vandersloot previously held the single-game record with 18 dimes, which she set in 2020 while plying her trade for the Chicago Sky. She added 13 points to her tally as the Sky beat the Indiana Fever 100-77.


#3. Sabrina Ionescu | 16 assists vs. Phoenix Mercury (2022)

Add facilitating as part of Sabrina Ionescu's strengths as he dished out 16 assists during the Liberty's 89-69 win against the Phoenix Mercury in 2022. The guard had a quiet day on the floor with just 10 points but made up for it by feeding the players on the court to get past the Mercury. She is also tied with joined by Alyssa Thomas, Vandersloot, and Ticha Penicheiro for the same number of assists.


#4. Natasha Cloud | 15 assists vs. Atlanta Dream (2023)

Phoenix Mercury's Natasha Cloud was part of the Washington Mystics last season, and one of her memorable outings included a 15-assist game against the Atlanta Dream. The effort wasn't enough as Washington went down 80-75. She is tied with Vandersloot who hit that mark four times, and Penicheiro who had three 15-assist games in her career.


#5. Alyssa Thomas | 14 assists vs. Minnesota Lynx (2024)

Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas made headlines earlier this season with 14 assists in a single game against the Minnesota Lynx. The Sun pulled off a narrow 78-73 win as her assists effort coupled with 13 points helped prop up the victory for Connecticut. The performance marked the third time she notched up the same number of dishes in a single contest.

Other players on that list include Vandersloot, Penicheiro, Diana Taurasi, Chelsea Gray and Layshia Clarendon. Caitlin Clark again get an honorary mention at No. 6 with 13 assists.
