The Dallas Wings became the most valuable WNBA team after two investors bought a 1.0% stake in the team, as per Front Office Sports. The team's valuation soared from $75 million to $208 million in a matter of months, which is a 177.0% increase.

The Wings were the 11th most valuable franchise in the league last June, according to Sportico. Wings CEO and part-owner Greg Bibb sold the stake to Jed Kaplan and Randy Eisenman. Kaplan is a minority owner of the Memphis Grizzlies, while Eisenman owns a local hedge fund in Dallas.

In addition to the rough evaluation following the sale, the WNBA's upcoming $2.2 billion broadcast deal should increase the worth of all 12 teams. Sportico, or possibly Forbes, could update the list in the coming months given that other teams received investments recently.

The majority owner of the Dallas Wings is Bill Cameron, who also serves as chairman, with Greg Bibb as the CEO and Chris Christian as the vice chairman and managing partner. Other minority owners include Mark Yancey, as well as the University of Texas at Arlington, Jed Kaplan and Randy Eisenman.

As mentioned above, Dallas' valuation increased after Kaplan and Eiseman's investment. The franchise's overall worth is also expected to increase once the WNBA's new broadcast deal kicks in at the start of the 2026 season.

#2 - Las Vegas Aces ($140 millon)

According to Sportico's list from June, the Las Vegas Aces were the most valuable WNBA team at $140 million. The Aces are now second after the Dallas Wings took the top spot.

Las Vegas is the back-to-back defending WNBA champions owned by Mark and Carol Davis, who also own the Las Vegas Raiders. Tom Brady is also one of its minority owners, which should raise the team's profile. Its valuation will likely increase with another championship and once the new broadcast rights deal starts in two years.

#3 - Seattle Storm ($135 million)

The Seattle Storm are the third-best most valuable franchise in the WNBA with an estimated worth of $135 million. The Storm is owned by Force 10 Hoops LLC, with Sue Bird as one of its minority owners. Bird is considered the greatest player in franchise history.

Seattle's valuation decreased in 2024 after topping the list last year with a net worth of around $150 million. However, that won't last long since the new broadcast rights deal will help every team and the interest in women's basketball should attract more investors.

#4 - New York Liberty ($130 million)

The New York Liberty are the fourth-most valuable WNBA franchise right now at $130 million. The Liberty are coming off a WNBA Finals appearance last year and are currently the best team in the league. They are also at one of the biggest sports markets in the world.

According to Front Office Sports, the Liberty's value could skyrocket once the investment of BSE Global is properly assessed. The valuation could reach at least $200 million, which is what the New York Post predicted once the news of the new investment went public.

#5 - Phoenix Mercury ($105 million)

Mat Ishbia bought the Phoenix Suns and Mercury from Robert Sarver last year. The Mercury are the fifth-most valuable franchise with an estimated worth of $105 million.

As mentioned above, the broadcast rights should affect the team's value in two years. There's an interest in investing in women's sports and the rise of stars such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will take the league to new heights.
