Fame can come at you quickly, especially when you are Caitlin Clark. The WNBA All-Star is currently taking a break from the game but that doesn't mean she can simply walk away from the spotlight. The Indiana Fever guard was spotted at a Kroger supermarket and photos of her posing alongside some WNBA fans have now gone viral on social media.
Over the past few years, Clark has had a metoric rise from a college student to WNBA superstar. After shattering records at the collegiate level for the Iowa Hawkeyes, she was the first pick in the 2024 draft. In just 26 professional games, Clark has already established herself as one of the league's top players and her arrival has caused ratings and viewership figures to skyrocket.
Fans on social media reacted to the latest snaps of Caitlin Clark shopping in a Nike hoodie and sweatpants. Being one of the league's most popular players does have its downside. It means that even a mundane task like going to the grocery store can be tough to accomplish without getting spotted.
"Getting tougher to go out incognito," wrote one fan.
"Poor girl can’t even do her groceries in peace," another fan added.
Other fans were impressed with the All-Star's humility and casual look at the store, finding it very relatable.
"Also I love how she looks like a regular ass person who pulls up to the store in their house clothes haha," another fan said.
"CC refuses to not still be a normal person. Gotta respect that. Can’t be easy!" commented another fan.
"She purchases the microwaveable rice like I do," added another fan.
The mesage was shared by the IU Indy Women’s Basketball X account and already has almost 4,000 likes in just the first day it was posted
Caitlin Clark opted to skip the WNBA's 3-point contest after strenuous year
It has been a grueling 12 months for Caitlin Clark who has had little time to rest due to her busy schedule. The 22-year-old has constantly been in the headlines since her record-breaking season with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Indiana Fever star recently said that she opted to sit out the WNBA 3-point contest to rest after a difficult year.
"I've been playing basketball for a year straight," Clark said, per the New York Post. "So I think just enjoying this break, I think there's going to be plenty of opportunities for me to do that at some point…I need a break, and I need to take some time for myself to enjoy what I want to do.
Caitlin Clark played in 39 games during her senior year and helped guide Iowa to the NCAA championship game on April 7. She had just nine days off before the 2024 WNBA Draft. After another short break, Clark made her professional debut on May 14 and it has been non-stop basketball ever since.
