The Minnesota Lynx host the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night at the Target Center. The Sun are looking to sweep their two-game road trip after beating the Phoenix Mercury on Monday. The Lynx, meanwhile, are back at home after going 2-2 in their four-game road trip.

Minnesota is coming off a 76-67 loss to the New York Liberty. It was a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Commissioner's Cup Final, but the Liberty prevailed this time. The Lynx are third in the WNBA despite the defeat in Brooklyn.

As for the visitors, Connecticut beat the Mercury at the Footprint Center. They took advantage of Phoenix's back-to-back schedule, as they were playing the second game in two days. Alyssa Thomas had a double-double to lead the Sun to an 83-72 victory.

Connecticut Sun vs Minnesota Lynx - Battle of the MVP candidates

Apart from being a matchup of two of the best teams in the WNBA, Wednesday's game will be a battle of the MVP candidates. Alyssa Thomas, who was the runner-up for the award last season for the Connecticut Sun, remains one of the best players in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Napheesa Collier is quite possibly the closest competition for MVP-favorite A'ja Wilson. Collier has been having a fantastic season for the Minnesota Lynx, leading them to the 2024 WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship. It was the franchise's first trophy since the 2017 WNBA Championship.

Collier was named Commissioner's Cup MVP for her performance against the New York Liberty. She dominated the offensive end in their last game versus Connecticut, but Thomas led her team to victory.
