Kate Martin keeps a low-profile personal life. Although the media is familiar with her parents, not much is known about her siblings. The Las Vegas Aces rookie is the youngest and has an older brother and an older sister.
Her older sister, Kennedy Martin, was also a basketball player and played at the forward position for the Truman Bulldogs in college but chose a different career after earning her degree in Marketing.
Both Kennedy and Kate Martin were born in Edwardsville, Illinois. Their father, Matt Martin, was a college athlete at Western Illinois University and gave her some playing advice.
“My dad was a lot of help," Kennedy told The Intelligencer in 2013. "He told me I would know if it was the right fit for me. My dad played football in college, so he knew what this was like. He tried to make it as comfortable as he could. He helped out."
According to her profile at Truman State University, Kennedy played basketball, soccer and volleyball at Edwardsville High School. She earned all-conference and all-state honors during her time there.
In college, Kennedy Martin was never a full-time starter and started just once in her final year. In 68 games she played with the Trumen Bulldogs, she averaged 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.
According to her Instagram bio, Kennedy works as a medical sales representative, is married and has two children, Carson and Sunny.
Kate Martin checks sister Kennedy Martin's late-night activity on IG
On Tuesday, Kate Martin posted a video on her Instagram in collaboration with the clothing company American Eagle. The video showed Martin over the years, including snaps of her working on her laptop, playing with her nephew and working in the kitchen.
Commenting on the post, Martin's older sister Kennedy wrote:
"AE girly."
Seeing her sister reply after midnight, Kate Martin had the same reaction that any sibling might have:
"[Kennedy Martin] why are you awake[?]"
Kennedy replied:
"Hehe I just got back."
Kate and Kennedy Martin also spend time with their family when they can. Last June, the sisters visited Belize and shared pictures from the trip, and when Martin got her Olympic break this year, she visited her family. Posting pictures on Instagram, Martin wrote:
"Break treated me good, love my people."
Martin's WNBA team, the Las Vegas Aces, hold the fourth spot in the playoff seedings and are set to face Seattle Storm in the first round of the postseason.
