The WNBA's Most Improved Player of the Year award (MIPOY) race is getting hotter by the day. Several players have improved their performance week after week, trying to help their teams advance to the playoffs and establish themselves as stars in the league.
Today, we take a look at the leading five candidates who could win the award when the 2024 WNBA season concludes.

#5. DiJonai Carrington, Connecticut Sun
DiJonai Carrington started this WNBA season as a solid candidate to take this prize home. The Connecticut Sun remains the best team in the league, but the young guard's numbers have decreased compared to Week 1 of the season. Still, she's putting on good stats to challenge for this award, averaging 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
#4. Ezi Magbegor, Seattle Storm
Ezi Magbegor is becoming one of the most notable surprises of this season, posting good numbers on both ends of the court. Besides establishing herself as a Defensive Player of the Year candidate (3.0 blocks per game and 1.5 steals per game) in the WNBA, she's also averaging 13.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 2.1 apg.
#3. Maddy Siegrist, Dallas Wings
Maddy Siegrist made the list last week and she keeps getting better. The Dallas Wings forward is averaging 14.1 ppg this WNBA season, more than 10 points than last year (3.7 ppg). She also averages 4.3 rpg and 1.2 apg.
#2. Dearica Hamby, LA Sparks
The top two spots on this list seems to be reserved for two players every week and the LA Sparks' Dearica Hamby is one of them. The 30-year-old forward has found herself in the best possible situation with the Sparks, averaging 20.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 3.6 apg in 36.2 minutes of action. She has become the leader of this young squad this season, proving that she needed to be on the right team to blossom.
#1. Kahleah Copper, Phoenix Mercury
Kahleah Copper took the No. 1 spot last week and she holds onto it this week as well after some notable performances. Copper and the Mercury are trying to find consistency this season and she helped them win two games last week. Copper averages 24.0 ppg (third in the league), 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 32.0 mpg.
