Caitlin Clark entered the second half of the season with the third-best odds to win the WNBA Most Valuable Player award despite being a rookie. Two weeks later, Clark makes her debut on Sportskeeda's 2024 WNBA MVP ladder.

Even though the Indiana Fever went 1-1 in Week 12, Clark's production is hard to ignore. She continues to lead the league in total assists and assists per game.

Nevertheless, A'ja Wilison remains the favorite to win the MVP award for the third time in her career. The only hitch in her current campaign is that the Las Vegas Aces are only fourth in the standings.

#5 - Alyssa Thomas | Forward | Connecticut Sun

  • Week 11 Ranking: #3
  • Games Played (Week 12) - 3 GP (3 W, 0 L)
  • Average (Week 12) - 8.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 9.0 APG, 2.7 SPG 0.3 BPG
  • Average (Season) - 11.2 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 7.9 APG, 1.6 SPG 0.5 BPG

Alyssa Thomas dropped to No. 5 this week despite the Connecticut Sun's unblemished record of 3-0. Thomas remains an important part of the Sun's offense although it's been more of a team effort lately.

She's still the catalyst of their offense, but Marina Mabrey, DiJonai Carrington and DeWanna Bonner all played great this week. She would need to score more if she wants to stay on the list although they're probably more focused on winning a WNBA championship.

#4 - Breanna Stewart | Forward | New York Liberty

  • Week 11 Ranking: #2
  • Games Played (Week 12) - 4 GP (3 W, 1 L)
  • Average (Week 12) - 20.3 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.0 BPG
  • Average (Season) - 19.7 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.9 SPG, 1.4 BPG

The reigning WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart dropped two places this week despite a stellar week wherein the New York Liberty won three of their four games. Stewart is still one of the main weapons for the Liberty who own the best record in the league.

Stewart is likely more focused on helping New York make a deep postseason run. Sabrina Ionescu could have been on this list but missed two of their four games.

#3 - Caitlin Clark | Guard | Indiana Fever

  • Week 11 Ranking: NR
  • Games Played (Week 12) - 2 GP (1 W, 1 L)
  • Average (Week 12) - 21.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 7.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG
  • Average (Season) - 18.0 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 8.2 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG

Caitlin Clark makes her debut on the WNBA MVP ladder after putting up a masterclass in two games. Clark could have had even better numbers if her teammates scored from some of her passes.

While some may frown upon Clark's inclusion due to her team's record, she's the reason the Indiana Fever has a chance at finishing their season with an above .500 record. She also has the third-best odds to win the MVP with less than a month left in the regular season.

#2 - Napheesa Collier | Forward | Minnesota Lynx

  • Week 11 Ranking: #5
  • Games Played (Week 12) - 3 GP (3 W, 0 L)
  • Average (Week 12) - 27.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG
  • Average (Season) - 21.1 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 3.6 APG, 2.1 SPG, 1.2 BPG

Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx is back where she belongs behind A'ja Wilson in the WNBA MVP ladder. Collier made things more interesting after dropping three strong performances in Week 12 including two wins over the Las Vegas Aces.

Collier also jumped to second place for odds to win the MVP award although Wilson is still heavily favored to take it home. However, if the Aces don't finish in the top 4, it could impact the voting and will give the UConn product a glimmer of hope.

#1 - A'ja Wilson | Forward | Las Vegas Aces

  • Week 11 Ranking: #1
  • Games Played (Week 12) - 3 GP (1 W, 2 L)
  • Average (Week 12) - 19.7 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG
  • Average (Season) - 26.6 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 2.3 APG, 2.0 SPG, 2.7 BPG

A'ja Wilson salvaged her week with a game-winning shot in the Aces' win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday. Wilson had a subpar performance in Week 12 based on her season averages but she still has a firm grip on the No. 1 spot in the WNBA MVP ladder.

The 28-year-old forward will still likely take home her third WNBA MVP award as well as the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year trophy. However, some people are putting a dent in her great season by pointing out the Aces' position in the standings.
